U.S. Passport Application Status

Your passport application was not found. It is possible your application has not made it into our system yet.

It is currently taking 7-10 days to begin tracking your application whether you requested Routine Service or Expedite Service and overnight delivery. If you have not received your passport and you are traveling within the next 2 weeks, please call the National Passport Information Center.

Please allow the time frames mentioned above before checking again on the status of your application.

Note: If your information (last name, date of birth, and last four digits of your Social Security Number) matches more than one record in our database your record will not appear online.

If your status is not found, and you are not traveling within 48-72 hours, please try again later. If you are traveling within 48-72 hours, please contact the National Passport Information Center by phone or via email. Responses to emails may take 2-4 days.

Use of the Internet to access your U.S. passport application information involves the electronic transmission of personal information. By entering your email address above and clicking on the submit button below, you are consenting to the electronic transmission of your personal information. Your consent is effective during the entire time you care communicating with the National Passport Information Center. Passport Services can only release this information to the passport applicant or to the parent or guardian of an applicant under age 18.

If you applied at an Acceptance Facility or By Mail

Note: Processing times may vary based on workload.

Routine Service: If you requested Routine Service at the time you applied at an acceptance facility (e.g., Post Office or other government office) or mailed a renewal or amendment application, we will process your application and you will receive your passport within about 4 weeks from the date you submitted your application.

Expedited Service: If you requested Expedited Service when you applied at an acceptance facility (e.g., Post Office or other government office) or mailed a renewal or amendment application, we will process your application and you will receive your passport in about 3 weeks from the date you submitted your application if you also paid for 2-way overnight delivery. It may take longer for a renewal application if "Expedite" was not marked on the mailing envelope.


If you applied at one of the 18 Regional Passport Agencies

If you have already made arrangements to pick up your passport at the Passport Agency, please verify the pick-up date and time from your Will-Call receipt.

If you did not pay additionally for overnight delivery, your passport will be sent you via Priority Mail. Please allow 7 business days for receipt from the date you submitted your application.

If you paid for overnight delivery, please allow up to 5 business days for receipt from the date you submitted your application.

If it has been more than four (4) days since you submitted your expedited application or in the event of an emergency and you are unable to pick up your passport, please contact the National Passport Information Center.


If you applied at a U.S. Embassy or Consulate Overseas

Passport processing times vary based on the workload volume of the U.S. Embassy or Consulate where you applied. Your passport should be processed within the timeframe identified by the U.S. Embassy or Consulate when you applied.
